Atlantic immigration pilot program
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is an employer-driven federal immigration pilot program designed to help fill permanent labor shortages and skill gaps in business by supporting foreign nationals for permanent residency. Employers interested in filling labor shortages through the pilot must first be identified, and then have their jobs endorsed by the province.
Once the employer make a job offer, employer and the candidate will work through several steps. If employer and the candidate meet all the requirements, the candidate gets permanent resident status in Canada.
There are three different streams -- The Atlantic High Skilled Program allows you to attract highly skilled individuals,
- The Atlantic Intermediate Skilled Program allows you to attract semi-skilled individuals, and
- The Atlantic International Graduate Program allows you to attract recent graduates from Atlantic Canada post-secondary institutions.
There are some advantages:
- Employers are not required to get a Labor Market Impact Assessment. Instead, they need to meet the requirements to become designated.
- Less processing time (six months or less) and there is no point system.
- Employer supports candidate and their family’s settlement (for instance-housing, language) and integration in community and workplace in partnership with the settlement service provider organization.
