Eligibility for citizenship: To become a Canadian citizen, applicant must

• be a permanent resident
• have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years
• have filed taxes
• passed citizenship test (required only for applicants aged between 18 to 54 years)
• proven language skills in English or French
