EXPRESS ENTRY
Express Entry is an online system that is used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Express Entry creates a pool of qualified candidates using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Candidates can only apply for PR with an invitation to apply (ITA). Number of applications selected can vary for each of the draws.
Federal Skilled Worker Program
The federal skilled worker's category is a class of skilled workers, who may someday become permanent residents due to their economic establishments in Canada. The Eligibility criteria include:
- Minimum of one (1) year of continuous full-time or equivalent work experience in the last ten (10) years
- Also, the experience must be paid and in a skilled occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A, or B
- Proficiency in English or French language
- Education qualifications (Secondary school or higher)
Federal Skilled Trade Program:
The federal skilled trade program is for experienced tradesperson from all over the world who would like to immigrate to Canada permanently. The Eligibility criteria include:
- LMIA approved full time job offer from up to 2 employers for at least 1 year OR a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by Canadian territorial or provincial body.
- Two years of full time within last 5 years in a skilled trade. Work experience does not need to be continuous and must be acquired after obtaining the correspondent qualifications to perform such job
- A score of at least CLB 5 in speaking and listening and CLB 4 in writing and reading
- Proof to funds to settle
Note: Skilled trades that are qualified under this program are:
- Major Group 72, construction trades, electrical and industrial.
- Major Group 73, equipment, and maintenance operation trades.
- Major Group 82, technical jobs and supervisors in related production, natural resources, and agriculture.
- Major Group 92, central control operators, supervisors, utilities, and manufacturing.
- Minor Group 632, cooks, and chefs.
- Minor Group 633, bakers, and butchers.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is specifically designed to help people obtain permanent residence through Canadian work experience in NOC levels 0, A, and B. The eligibility includes:
- At least one year of skilled, professional, or technical work experience in Canada within last 3 years of the application date
- Requirements of language proficiency
- Educational qualification
Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)
This program is designed for individuals who are interested in immigrating to a specific Canadian province and who the province believes will be able to help in improving economic development and prosperity of the province and in result Canada. The express entry candidates may either enter the pool first, and then be nominated by a province or territory or be nominated by a province or territory, and then complete an online express entry profile.
Each province, except for Quebec operates its own PNP program but several streams. These streams are designed by the provinces to meet their economic and demographic needs. The program requirements and the application procedures are different for each of the PNP programs, and the criteria vary and change often without notice.
